Collaborative, Recycled, Reused, Reinvented, Redesigned, and Re-purposed Student Art Project
A collaborative recycled installation is an environmentally conscious exhibition that is created with the collaboration of students in all grades. The exhibition includes work in various mediums; sculpture, installation, and mixed media. These works are composed of commonly thrown away objects that are reused, reinvented, redesigned, and re-purposed. Potential materials include magazines, bottles, bottle caps, and cardboard. The end product should bring to mind the ideas of renewal and the balance of nature and refuse. The observer should also be reminded that we are connected to all things in the universe and that it is imperative to live in harmony with our environment. We hope those who visit these exhibitions take away with them the importance of thinking creatively in order to safeguard and conserve our earth.
Objective:
(1) To provide an opportunity for students to study the breadth of sustainability issues including economic, social, and environmental factors, and the local to global reach of sustainability challenges.
(2) To utilize the school campus as a primary case study to illustrate institutional practices such as sustainability, education, and communication.
Goal:
(1) Raise awareness about sustainability on campus.
(2) Bring to light simple choices students can make in their everyday lives to promote self and campus sustainability.
(3) Create aesthetically pleasing works of art which serve to relay a message and spark conversation and change in our community.
(4) Engage students and community members by providing opportunities for involvement through the building process.
